Downender: The paper production usually happens at a higher building level than the converting. To simultaneously change the height difference and tilt the rolls from the horizontal into the upright position, Downenders are used. They are operated hydraulically and can do a complete cycle within 60 seconds.

Input/Output Points: The quick access to certain paper rolls is based on an intelligent storage of the produced or delivered rolls. Automatic warehouse systems store thousands of rolls and deliver them on request via the conveying system. In this case, slat conveyors are the interface between the conveying system and the warehouse.

Turntable: Within the internal roll carriage, intelligent control of the transport flow is necessary. At intersection points, rolls with different destinations are handled. In this case, Turntables are used to change the transport direction. Optionally, discharge ramps can be added or the Turntables can be additionally equipped with roll kickers or stoppers.

Transfer Track: To buffer rolls within the transport chain, Transfer Tracks are used. The paper rolls are pushed off the slat conveyor at the beginning of Transfer Track, and reach the first segment where they are gently stopped and positioned depending on their weight. It is possible to arrange any number of segments within the Transfer Track.

Sheeter Feeding Lines: Modern sheeter plants are equipped with tailor-made Feeding Lines consisting of slat conveyors or transport cars. The delivery of the paper rolls to the feeding lines is done either through forklift, AGV or directly through a stationary conveying system. On request, the paper rolls can be unwrapped before entering the unwinding stands of the sheeter at pneumatically operated lifting stations. An automatic discharge of rest rolls is also possible.

Standby Ramp: In front of every sheeter a production buffer is beneficial. Paper rolls are pushed from the behind onto a Standby Ramp and accumulated at the pneumatically operated buffers. If needed, the rolls are released by lowering these buffers which enables the next roll to take its place on the Standby Ramp. At the end of the Standby Ramp the paper rolls reach the sheeter feeding area.

Shuttle: For a more economic production, paper rolls are buffered in front of the sheeters to enable a quick change of rolls. A rapid delivery of the rolls to their respective places is beneficial. The rail-guided shuttles are equipped with transport platforms. They are the fastest and most effective way to transport paper rolls.

Delivery to AGV: In case of long transport distances within a paper mill, Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGV) are used for roll transportation. To create an interlink between the different systems, Delivery Points are defined where paper rolls are delivered to or discharged from slat conveyors. These systems can be extended in any possible way, in case of future concepts or developments.
